Phoenix Insurance is proud to support a range of community and sporting groups around Western Australia. Our staff also like to walk the talk and participate in charitable events to show our support for good causes. But there are few causes more deserving of our support than the Kyle Andrews Foundation Inc.
The Foundation was set up in honour of Broome boy Kyle Andrews who had a dream of taking his friends from Princess Margaret Hospital up to Broome so they may feel better. Kyle was being treated in Ward 3B for leukaemia. His dream was made a reality when the generous people of Broome set up ‘Kyle’s Camp 98’. Sadly, after attending the first camp, Kyle passed away in July 1998. In May 2017, the Foundation will celebrate its 20th Kyle’s Camp.
The main goals of the Kyle Andrews Foundation include:
- Ensuring Kyle’s Camp is an annual event in Broome to help children fighting cancer
- To provide a family getaway for the families of children suffering from cancer and other serious illness
- Develop the Locke Estate in Busselton as holiday accommodation for families
- Provide financial support for Broome families with children suffering from cancer
Events are held in Broome to raise money for the Kyle Andrews Foundation. On Mothers’ Day 2017, the Kyle’s Cable Beach Walk will see families walking along the beach with this year’s camp participants.
The Broome Pentathalon will be held in October 2017. The popular event has already filled its team registrations but is looking for spectators to cheer on the participants.
